Since this was one of the last shows of the tour and most have already experienced the greatness of radiohead, I will not burden anyone with a lengthy review.
But….If Radiohead were a cult I wouldn’t think twice about drinking the punch. Their song catalogue is untouchable. Highlights of the night include Fake Plastic Trees, National Anthem, Gloaming, and The Bends. The one song they didn’t play that I REALLY wanted to hear was Exit Music. When Thome broke out the acoustic guitar I thought it was coming, instead he belted out an amazing cover of Neil Diamond’s “Tell Me Why.” Turns out they played it at the Sunday show. After checking out the set list from the night before I am convinced the Monday show had a better selection of songs.
The visuals really stole the show for people in the $150 ticket seats that yours truly had. Sure that amount seems like it would buy you a comfortable place in between Yorke’s nuturing glass tit, but this is Radiohead and I live in Hollywood. All bitterness aside on the scalper situation, I am sure the people that paid $1,000 for terrace tickets left with the same smile I left with. It was great seeing so many people digging radiohead in one place. Most choose to just sit and watch but there were groups that couldn’t stand still and had to do the psycho bunny dance.
I can’t wait to see another show at the bowl. I love that venue.
